I am very happy to introduce our extraordinary Synagogue.
Temple Shalom of Deltona Florida is a community of families who are growing in their Judaism through learning, prayer, and service to others. We welcome everyone, wherever they may be on their Jewish path. We teach a Judaism of the heart; a Judaism that is grounded in our unique history, yet is open to the spiritual wisdom of the world. We welcome all people at our Synagogue, and extend a special welcome to interfaith families. We believe that tradition and community are the soil in which the individual can grow and flourish.
We believe that Torah is an ever-living source of meaning, which opens our hearts and minds to God. We are committed to learning and to teaching our children in a spirit of intellectual honesty and openness, and to growing together in an atmosphere of trust and respect for all people.
Temple Shalom is an egalitarian community, rooted in both tradition and modernity. We have a deep reverence for ancient forms of worship as well as well as a love of modern nusach. We believe that our mix of liturgy is a powerful means of self-expression, which binds us to each other, to the past, and to God. Our services are joyous and inspirational, with amazing and uplifting music. As we pray, learn and sing together many people feel a sense of deep connection to our Tradition and a sense of genuine spiritual fulfillment.
We understand that opening ourselves to God means opening ourselves to the image of God in one another. We take responsibility for supporting one another in times of need, and to serving the larger community.
While respecting Jewish Tradition, we seek to renew that Tradition in a non-dogmatic way. Our aspiration is to formulate an approach to Judaism that nourishes the soul, as it enlightens the mind, and that is in harmony with the highest spiritual principles of our time. Temple Shalom of Deltona is an independent Synagogue, not affiliated with any organized movement.
